My son thinks I’m a total nerd, and a bit obsessed, for loving Galaga. Well, guess what? I am a total nerd and I’m a bit obsessed! And I embrace it. I’ve got a little arcade machine, a handheld, multiple emulators and they’re always calling my name. I could be doing anything – laundry, dishes, taxes – but no, I’m drawn to the neon glow of the screen.
You know what’s the best part? I’m not even good at the game! I’ve been playing for years, and I still can’t beat the high score. But that doesn’t matter. It’s the journey, not the destination. The thrill of the chase, the satisfaction of a well-timed shot. It’s a simple pleasure, but it brings me so much joy.
